Our 24th Holiday Wellbeing Program was held over two different months – the first week in December and the second week in January. Once again, the program delivered an amazing time for both children and staff – exploring, creating and enjoying the outdoor activities, building confidence and friendships with children Prep to Year 6. The January week welcomed a few new faces with a new school group of prep children attending (being finally old enough to join the program). It was another successful program, thanks to the children attending, the casual staff’s engagement and the fantastic support shown from the local community.
Highlights from December 2025 / January 2026
Our first week was full of excitement with the thought of Christmas not a far away. We kicked off this week with Christmas spirit being a theme. Children were welcomed at the Radio station by Darl’s and Fletch and were able to do some recording of a little Christmas sing-along and send a Christmas message out to the community. They enjoyed seeing the station and all the new and old equipment. Other activities included pickle ball, which was fun and exciting for the older children, Christmas themed cooking and crafts, two days at Kingston with amazing sunny summer weather. These days included field activities, outdoor craft, sports, waterslide and swimming. The kids were amazed and excited to try out our new water toy, a flotation ring. The week was finished off with a yummy sausage sizzle hosted by the Norfolk Island Police.
The second week kicked off at the Girl Guide Hall – offering a little bit of a change in location. The weather was not so kind to us for our program as Norfolk got some much-needed rain and it meant we had to change our program to a wet weather option. Children however still enjoyed the fun and activities offered inside the Guide Hall and Rawson Hall. The weeks activities saw the children doing some cooking, craft, laser tag, movies, board games, Lego and indoor games. The older children were bused to the squash courts where they had a blast with Jesse and Jonno. The rain stopped for us on the last day but unfortunately Kingston was still flooded, and we were once again at Rawson Hall. Children still had lots of fun, and we were able to be outdoors and enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.
Thanks to the children, casual staff, community support and NI-Connect team that made this another success and great program.
A big thank you to the incredibly generous individuals, families and businesses who helped make the

Feedback from children and families using the program, local casual staff and young people working at the program and our permanent NI-Connect staff all helps so we can keep trying to make this a better program for the kids, a better support for families and a great place to work.
